TRENDS AND RISKS OF THE PRESENT AND FUTURE

The trend & risks for the Slovak Republic and the reality of the next 10 years will be:

    • Global Warming Trend – exponential increase in temperature and massive tropical heat waves
    • 2-3 weeks, monthly massive tropical temperature intervals: 38.0°C – 40.0°C – 44.0°C

CONSEQUENCE 1:
Extreme temperatures in 2019 Paris 42.7°C – Amsterdam 40.4°C – Bonn 41.6°C – London 38°C  r.2021 Extreme temperatures in 2021 – Vancouver, Canada area 46.9°C
Such two-three weeks or monthly intervals are also a trend for the Slovak Republic. According to forecasts and mathematical models, such temperatures were prognosed for 2050

  • IMPACT 1: Deaths in tropical heat waves – tens of thousands of elderly people, especially in 2003, 2007 and 2019
  • IMPACT 2: NEED for increasing the resilience and reliability of technological infrastructure and technological lines in tropical heat waves  

CONSEQUENCE 2:
Trend continues and Risk for the present and future – lack of comprehensive resilience and technological support for the protection of life and health

Trend of exponentially increasing outdoor and indoor air pollution

CONSEQUENCE:: Exponential increase in pollutants in outdoor and indoor air

  • from automobile, air and ship transport
  • from industrial activity, primarily from chemical and petrochemical production
  • from energy, especially during emergencies such as industrial accidents and nuclear power plant accidents,
  • A particular problem is bioterrorism, pandemics and other risks. 

IMPACT: Increase in premature deaths of 6-9 million per year, increase in morbidity and cases of bronchitis in children will increase to 36 million per year by 2060/. – OECD In Slovakia 5,000 people die this way every year. (according to HN 2019)
